Saturday – Arm Day

It’s the first ‘proper’ Saturday in January, I anticipate getting to the gym and not being able to move for the sea of new January joiners, but instead I’m pleasantly surprised. The gym is busy but it looks like I might get my whole workout done without having to queue for anything, yay!

Saturday is arm day for me. Whilst my arms aren’t my favourites to train, they are one of those areas where it’s easy to see if i’m making progress. Todays work out was:

Bicep Curls 5 x 10 (each side)

Tricep Push Down (Cable Machine) 5 x 12

Tricep Kickback 5 x 8

Bicep Rope Curl 5 x 12

Tricep Push Up 3 sets to failure

Tricep Dip 3 x 8

EZ Bar Preacher Curls 5 x 10

EZ bar preacher curls are my absolute favourites, especially with a spotter, which I had today. So instead of 5 x 10, I did drop sets to failure each time. I thought I was going to be sick by the end of it so lets hope I did my arms some good and those biceps start to grow.

I finished my workout with 30 minutes of low intensity steady state (LISS) cardio, I usually do intervals but as this was my last workout of the week and i’d done a fair bit of intervals during the weekdays I decided to take it a bit easier.

Post workout food: Protein shake, 30 grams of oats topped with ‘The Protein Works’ Choc Fudge syrup and a few cashews and cranberries on the side. THEN NAP!
